The confidence to confront any situation.
De-Escalation series
De-Escalation is an integral (and often ignored) part of self-defense.
Kung Fu San Soo is not meant to submit or "wrap up" your opponent. It is meant for dangerous situations when the safety of you or those you love is in jeopardy. As such, de-escalation is an integral part of our curriculum in all the classes we teach. The ability to guide another person to a non-violent conclusion allows you to avoid long term physical, emotional, psychological, and legal ramifications of a serious fight. Even when de-escalation fails, you will have gained insight into your attacker that will be invaluable when the time comes to fight back.
The series of videos below are a sampling of lessons during our virtual pandemic classes where the students learned ways to self-regulate, de-escalate, and yes, manipulate others. The videos below include breathing, actual techniques, real life stories from our instructors using these techniques in their own lives, what to do when it doesn't work, and how to recognize when YOU are the one being manipulated. The ability to remain calm and think clearly in stressful situations is the first step to de-escalating your way out of them.
